Southern Kaduna to Honor Lekwot, Makarfi, Agwai, Kukah with SKGC Awards
Southern Kaduna will bestow its highest honor, the Southern Kaduna Grand Commander (SKGC), on three prominent individuals at the inaugural Southern Kaduna Festival 2023. The recipients are former Military Administrator of old Rivers State, Major-General Zamani Lekwot (rtd), former Chief of Defense Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd), and Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah.
The festival aims to celebrate the region's unity in diversity and recognize the contributions of individuals who have significantly impacted its development. In addition to the SKGC awards, the festival will feature sporting activities, a beauty pageant representing the zone's 57 ethnic nationalities, and other competitions.
Rear Admiral Fergusson Dukas Bobai (rtd), Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, explained that the awards honor leaders from the zone and acknowledge their contributions, both past and present.
Among the posthumous SKGC awardees are former Kaduna State Governor Ibrahim Yakowa, who died in a helicopter crash in December 2013, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Wazirin Jema'a, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed.
The Southern Kaduna Festival 2023 promises to be a vibrant celebration of the region's rich cultural heritage and an opportunity to honor those who have dedicated themselves to its progress.
